Betty Jane Taylor Montgomery

Our Beloved Mother, Betty Jane Taylor Montgomery, passed from this life at her home, on March 14, 2013 at the age of 80 years old. Betty is lovingly remembered by her children; Michael, Cynthia, Ferrell, and Mark, her daughters-in-law; Lucia and Kelly, her grandchildren; Melissa, Christina, Tracy and Mark, Taylor and Spencer, Katelyn, Connor and Chloe, and her large extended family in Virginia and Louisiana.

Betty was born in Poquoson, Virginia, August 29, 1932. She left Virginia in the early 1950's to work. She was married to Coy Montgomery for 24 years. She was an administrative assistant with Sun Oil for 26 years, also retired from the City of Newport News urban-planning, and for the last several years she worked at the Central Tag Agency in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was actively involved in her sorority, the Omega Pi chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha that works to benefit St. Jude children's hospital and other charities and also an active member with the Depression Glass Club. Betty also enjoyed volunteering with the Hillcrest Hospital Auxiliary which she did for many years. She was also a member of the Tulsa Elks lodge, which she loved.

The family wishes to acknowledge John Sawyer as the officiating minister and family friend and to thank the sisters of Omega Pi. In lieu of flowers, our mother would appreciate donations to St. Jude's or the charity of your choice in her name.

Mom, we love you. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for the time and all that you taught us about living and loving.

Condolences may be sent through the guest book on this page.

I was sad to read about Betty. She was such a lovely person! I worked with her at Sun and in recent years would almost always see her at the tag agency. I am so sorry for your loss.

Each day I miss my dear sister more and more. I keep hoping I will wake up from this horrible nightmare. But then I face reality and know we are left with wonderful memories of growing up together. My deepest sympathy to her dear children, my wonderful neice and nephews and all others she left behind. I know one day she will be waiting for us when hopefully we enter the gates of Heaven.

Betty was a wonderful lady. She loved her family above all else. She was a kind person and a loving mom to Mike, Cynthia, Ferrell & Mark. Her grandkids were her pride & joy. She loved to have fun traveling and shopping. Our family is so much better having had Betty in it. We will miss her so very much.

A sister, a friend, loved by all, taken too soon. I always thought we'd have one more day together. Don't wait to let your loved ones know how much they mean to you.
