Ethel Augusta Haden McCallie

Ethel Augusta McCallie

Ethel McCallie, 99, Nowata, OK, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at her daughter's home in Tulsa, OK. Ethel was born August 11, 1916 near Ava, MO, to Blake and Gladys Haden.

Our mother and grandmother was known for her incredible memory, her story telling (simply talking in general) and her love for the church, family, and friends. She loved ancestral history and pictures. She never turned down the opportunity to play her favorite card game called Hand and Foot; she would rather play than eat! She enjoyed reminiscing about trips to the coast, walking along the beach and picking up seashells. She was second to none as a seamstress, even making her boys' jeans when they were young. We raved about her cooking although she called it "plain." We all remember her whistling and singing while doing housework.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Blake and Gladys Haden; husband and father of their children, Oral Davison; second husband Leonard McCallie; sisters Elaine Sanders and Blanche Brixey; brother Adrain Haden; and sons Gerald and Bill Davison.

She is survived by brother, Raymond (wife Naida) Haden of Ava, MO; sons Phillip (wife Donna) Davison of Golden City, MO; Larry Davison of Kingman, KS; Jon (wife Janelle) of Walla Walla, WA; and Michael Davison of Visalia, CA; daughter Glenda (husband Pete) of Tulsa, OK; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and was a fifth generation grandmother.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22 at the Church of Christ at Whispering Hills, 21349 East 111th St S, Broken Arrow, OK 74014.
