James Robert Flaherty

James Robert Flaherty, 65 of Owasso, Oklahoma passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Tuesday, April 10th. He was born December 10th, 1946 in Salina, Kansas to Paul and Bernice Flaherty.

Jim graduated from the University of Kansas with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1968. He then proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1968-1972 at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Following discharge from the service, he attained his Masters of Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 1974. He also passed his Certified Public Accountant exam in 1974.

Jim was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife Mona of the home; daughter Shannan McClain and husband Daniel along with their sons Brennan and Mason of Broken Arrow; son Michael Flaherty and wife Jackie and twin sons Ethan and Owen of Owasso, Oklahoma; mother Bernice Shaffstall of Lincoln, Kansas.

He is also survived by brothers Larry and wife Regina Flaherty of Houston, Texas; Richard and wife Ricci Flaherty of Las Vegas, Nevada; mother-in-law Donna Jeane Lewick of Lincoln, Kansas; sister-in-law Ardith and husband Gale Kruckenberg of Lincoln, Kansas. Jim was also very proud of his 9 nephews and 8 nieces.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Paul Flaherty, Lincoln, Kansas; father-in-law Alvin Lewick Jr., Lincoln, Kansas and sister-in-law Peggy Richardson of North Platte, Nebraska.

Jim was the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at Panther Energy Company, LLC in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be held for Jim on Friday, April 20th at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Owasso. A lunch reception will follow. Jim was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in his name to The Indian Nations Council of the Boy Scouts of America or The American Cancer Society.
