Jim spent his youth in Lake Tahoe, Nevada where he loved the outdoors and snow skiing. Later, he joined the United States Navy where he served as an aircraft fireman. After his time in the military, he moved to Palm Springs, California where he worked as a Chauffer for Avis Car Rental. This was during the heyday of Palm Springs, so he met many stars of that time. Jim enjoyed driving the big rigs as a truck driver and won many safety awards for his accident-free four million miles, and medals in the state driving competitions. Upon his retirement, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near their granddaughter.

Jim loved God, family, Sooner football, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Nascar racing, old Westerns and Sci Fi, video games, fishing and hunting. He looked back fondly on the many hunting trips he had with his brother, brother-in-laws, and nephews. He liked to say that he might have been a “prune picker” from California but he was still an Okie.

Surviving with his wife is daughter, Janine, and her daughter Jaylin Burlin. Also surviving is his brother Charles Burlin and his wife Leota, brother David Burlin and his wife Ellen, sister Diana Erlitz and her husband Frank and his late brother Dennis Miggletto’s wife Nita.
