Rodney Key, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning on June 8, 2013. He was the last surviving grandchild of Hugh Henry, founder of Henryetta, OK. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Henryetta, where he served faithfully for many years. .

Roddy was born on August 29, 1922 in Fayetteville Arkansas. He moved to Henryetta when he was a young child and lived there the rest of his life.

In 1943, he was called to serve his country in World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star for heroism in active combat. He saved the lives of his troop by drawing enemy fire so they could escape.
Miraculously, he survived. He also received a Purple Heart for being injured in battle.

In 1945, he returned home and visited the family of a fallen soldier, Donald Ellis. There he met his bride, Betty and they married on
Friday, September 13, 1946. They always said Friday the 13th was
their lucky day.

In 1984, Roddy retired after a long, successful career as a salesman for Wilson Foods.

Anyone who knew him, knew of his love for golf. He started playing in
1954 and played with a passion into his early 80's. He had an impressive six holes-in-one, and "shot his age" from age 68 to 80. He passed along that love of golf to his children.

Roddy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty, their three children, Murry, Louann and Sallie, and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Matt, Katie, Joanie and Daniel. He has four great-grandchildren, Paige, Payton, Ellie and Jackson.

We will miss him very much but are comforted that he is now in a better place where the fairways are always green, the sky is always blue and nobody ever three-putts. (not that he ever did...)
