Gilliland and husband Tom; a son, William Richard Wooden and wife Peggy; grandchildren Kimberlie Gilliland and husband Andrew Sikora, Brandon Wooden and wife Brandy, Kristen Gilliland Westmoreland and husband Craig, Shannon Wooden and husband Kenneth Gillam, Suzanna Wooden and husband Sean Petersen; great-grandchildren Sean and Skyla Sikora, Andrew Wooden and wife Tiffany, Jessica Wooden, Clint and Kyleigh Westmoreland, and Oscar and Archer Gillam; and great-great grandson Jeremiah Wooden.

Ruth earned her degree in English at the University of Iowa and taught high school during WWII. After the war, she took on the job of full time wife and mother. She and Bill lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for fifty years, during which time they collected Native American art, antique tools, marbles, and countless friends and loved ones. The last year of her life she spent at Innisfree Retirement Community in Rogers, Arkansas, with her faithful boxer, Maudie, where the two were beloved members of the Innisfree family. She had a smile and hug for everyone and loved her family and friends dearly. She will be missed by many but none more than her family.

The family will observe a private service and requests that any memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
